Do you believe the Earth is flat? Better yet are you not this stupid, yet know someone who is? I'm sure some of you remember the Sherri Sheppard incident - the woman on "The View" who "didn't know" the Earth was round, it just "wasn't something she thinks about". She's smarter than this retard, who thinks he's read the science and just denies it because it's not in the Koran. But still, I'm sure there are people you know or people who know people you know... who are flat-earthers. Disabuse them of that notion hard and fast.

Nothing? Anyone guess? The worst part of this, the part that shows that religion in that person's country has completely ass-raped their brains, is the debate is on TV. Think about it - most people over here KNOW the Earth is spherical, there's no way in Hell some network exec would okay a TV debate about how the Earth is flat. It just wouldn't happen - they'd be the laughingstock of the country. And yet that guy? He's there on TV, saying that if it's not in the Koran it's not true. That's what he says specifically by the way - if it's not in the Koran it's a lie. Then he should take off his synthetic fibre clothes, his plastic framed glasses, he should just die really because modern medicine is what's probably keeping him alive.

Of course the entire video could be a fabrication, or the old bastard could really be translated as saying what the captions allege.

Apparently the Koran has a scientific fact on this - the Earth is described as spread out like a carpet and according to one apologetic retard this is true and before its time, long before geologists knew the Earth was round... How? Because you can lay a carpet out on a sphere. Yessums, since you can lay out a carpet on a sphere the passage that allegedly says the Earth is laid out like a carpet is correct in a scientific sense and therefore! The Koran is direct from Allah.

When was the last time you laid a fucking carpet out in any way other than flat? You might have a long carpet you laid to go down a set of stairs, but since when do you go around laying down carpet anything other than flat?

He then goes on to say some shit about how the word for carpet used to be the word for egg, therefore it's still true because the world is shaped like an egg... Well no, no it isn't, it's shaped like a slightly squashed sphere.

Fuck you all, seriously. If the religious scripture was truly from a God or whatnot it would have just said "lo and behold I have shapethed the Earth like a slightly squashed sphere" and leave it at that, let future generations figure it out. But no it's all flat this and carpet that and whatnot.

That's one example of religious apologetics trying vainly to prove their particular religious text is infallible and filled to the brim with scientific facts totally predicted by that text.

Problem? None of those so called "predictions" or "facts" in the religious texts are explicit. That is, we can interpret the text in such a way to make it appear to be talking about what we want to talk about, but none of the verses these people interpret simply come out and say "it is this way" - they don't for example say "and God saideth unto him: The Earth is shaped like a ball, has a solid core surrounded by liquid hot burny magma" it says shit like "the earth is round" or "as a circle". And even if they are explicit they're so blindingly obvious that to have said anything different at the time would have bought ridicule and derision upon the fledgling religion.

STOP trying to interpret your religious text to conform to a known scientific fact, claim it shows your text to be inerrant Word of InvisiMan, then go and ignore all the shit for which no alternate interpretation makes after-the-fact scientific sense.
